  • Candle Tea: Experience traditional Moravian Christmas customs including candle-making and carol-singing at Home Moravian Church in Old Salem. November 29 - December 9

  • Victorian Christmas: Take a self-guided tour through the beautifully decorated Kƶrnerā€™s Folly house. November 21 - January 6

  • The Nutcracker: The annual ballet takes place at the Steven Tanger Performing Arts Center this year, with hundreds of UNCSA students helping bring the performance to life. December 7-10

  • Speaker Breakfast - The Kimpton Cardinal Hotel hosts the Funding Our Future Transportation Breakfast. Attendees will learn about our regionā€™s transportation funding outlook and impacted projects. 8:30 AM*

  • Raylen Night - Celebrate the 23-year legacy of RayLen Vineyards & Winery with live music and a food truck. 6-8 PM

  • Musical - Theatre Alliance presents Return to the Forbidden Planet, a part Star Trek, part jukebox musical inspired by Shakespeareā€™s The Tempest. Available through November 13.

  • Veterans Day - Honor those who served in our military with a special ceremony at The Carolina Field of Honor. 11 AM

  • Family Art Day - Create your own artwork at Second Saturday at SECCA, a family-friendly event. 10 AM - 1 PM

  • Vintage Show - Browse vintage clothing at Wise Man Brewing. 12-6 PM

  • Miles for Meals 5K - Run through the Festival of Lights at Tanglewood Park to support the Hillsdale Church Food Ministry. 5:30 PM

  • Holiday Movie - Camel City Playhouse hosts a free screening of Home for the Holidays with a pie sampling prior to the start of the film. 8 PM

  • Heritage Celebration - Celebrate Native American Heritage Month with dancers, drumming, and other family-friendly activities at SECCA. 12-3 PM

  • Block Party - Head to Innovation Quarter and enjoy live music, drinks, delicious food, and vendors while supporting the LeanBack GiveBack Foundation. 12-4 PM

  • DIY Workshop - Make bows and fresh greens for the holidays at The Wooden Loft. 4:30 PM

  • Botanical Workshops - Create a floating flower frame and moss art at Mossy Hill Farm. 11 AM

  • Paint Party - Bring your friends to La Pink Moon Cafe and create your own painting. All skill levels welcome. 5 PM

  • Groovy Nights - Come to Dram & Draught for a night of dancing with DJ McNice. 10 PM

  • Vendor Market - Shop from 15 local vendors at Fiddle & Fig while enjoying drinks from The Mulberry Tableā€™s bar. 12-3 PM

  • Holiday Stroll - Take a Totally Outstanding Awesome Stroll through Tanglewood (TOAST) and enjoy the Christmas light displays. There will be hot chocolate, food, s'mores, and games. 5:30-10 PM

  • Paint Your Pet - Paint a portrait of your furry friend at Tucker's Tap Yard with StudioSRV. No artistic skill required! 5:30 PM

Other News

  • New Art Shop: The Art SHAC opens its doors to the public this Saturday. The Art SHAC is a non-profit that accepts donations of gently used art supplies and provides them to the community at affordable prices.

  • Decoration Contest: Property owners with windows facing the street in downtown Winston-Salem can participate in the Window Wonderland Contest. Windows must be decorated with holiday themes by December 1 at 5 PM for a chance to win cash prizes.

  • Development: Crossnore Communities for Children received approval on October 17 for a new charter school on its campus. Renovations to convert the Edwards Building into a charter school will begin in February 2024, and the school is projected to open in August 2025.

  • Award: USA Today named Coffee Park Airstream the No. 1 best drive-thru coffee shop in the nation. The local business, owned by Tommy Priest, has been operating for 16 years.

  • Veterans Day: Forsyth County is honoring veterans by participating in Operation Green Light November 6-12. During this time, various county buildings will be lit with green lights to demonstrate support and appreciation for military veterans.

  • New Store: Pinwheels Thrift Store and Family Center recently opened at 631 Coliseum Dr. All proceeds from sales go to programs offered by The Parenting PATH, including parent coaching and trauma-focused therapy.

  • Ranking: Winston-Salem ranks No. 17 in the best places to retire in the U.S., according to U.S. News. Last year, Winston-Salem ranked No. 36.
