Whether you’re a reluctant runner or a seasoned speedster, run clubs are a great way to stay motivated and meet new friends. Good news: Winston-Salem has plenty of clubs waiting for you to join their ranks.

Even better news: All the run clubs are free to participate in. Just show up ready to run!

Wise Man Brewing Run/Walk Club

  • Free Coworking - Enjoy a day of coworking, lunch, productivity, and networking at Flywheel Coworking's Community Day. 9 AM - 5 PM*

  • Easter Cooking Class - Make a classic Easter dinner at Southern Home & Kitchen. What’s on the menu? Braided Easter bread and glazed ham. 😋 6 PM

  • Cookie Decorating - Create a “bouquet” of beautiful floral cookies at Canvas Cake Studio. Perfect for a mother-daughter date! 6:30 PM

  • Comedy Tour - The Unteachables, a group of three teachers and comedians, performs at Joymongers Barrel Hall. 8 PM

Thursday, March 28

  • Book Club - The Well-Read Black Girl Book Club discusses While Justice Sleeps by Stacey Abrams. Anyone is welcome to participate! 6 PM

  • Dance Party - D.O.S.E Artist Collective hosts a 2.5-hour dance party with immersive performances at Reynolds Place Theatre. This event is 18+ only. 7 PM

  • R&B and Poetry - Head to Bar Nola for live poetry and R&B performances with rounds of music bingo! 8-11 PM

Other News

  • Business: The Office of Business Inclusion and Advancement is hosting its annual Small Business Plan Contest. The two winners will receive a $5,000 grant, a $5,000 potential matching micro-loan, and the opportunity to apply to the Small Business Loan Program. The informational kick-off meeting takes place March 26.

  • Racing: NASCAR is taking over Bowman Gray Stadium racing operations! The racetrack holds a special place in NASCAR history as NASCAR’s first (and longest-running) weekly racetrack. The stadium’s 76th season of racing begins on April 20.

  • University: Over 1600 people participated in Wake Forest University’s annual “Wake ‘N Shake” fundraising event on March 23. This year, the event raised over $313,000 for the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund. Go Deacs!

  • Coming Soon: Jade Express - a restaurant serving sushi, hibachi, and Chinese food - is set to open in April at 1103 Silas Creek Pkwy. The restaurant is known for its East meets West bourbon chicken!


  • Housing: Last week, city leaders discussed Winston-Salem’s housing problems and potential solutions. Topics addressed included individuals experiencing homelessness, affordable housing projects, and affordable housing loan funds. Mayor Joines said the council informally decided to move forward in creating a local housing trust fund.

  • Closing: Ted’s Famous Chicken will cease operations on Saturday, March 30. The restaurant has been serving delicious fried chicken for 24 years.

The CMPND and The Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership present Music in Merschel Park, a new music series kicking off April 5. The weekly series will take place every Friday from 11 AM - 1 PM.
