Our hearts break for those suffering from the effects of Hurricane Helene, specifically those in Western North Carolina. Weâve compiled a list of ways to provide financial support to those impacted in the region, as well as several local businesses in Winston-Salem collecting donations.
This is not a comprehensive list - many local businesses and non-profits are helping with disaster relief.

Carolina Classic Fair - The fair officially opens at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds! Opening day tickets are only $5. The fair will be in town until October 13.
Free Line Dancing - Learn how to line dance, then show off your new skills during the open dance at East of Texas. 8-10 PM
Trunk Show - Artfolios presents âRooted and Groundedâ at The Gallery at Stimmel, featuring the works of two local artists. 6-9 PM
First Friday - Browse a vendor market, jam out to live music, and explore the works of the featured artist of the month at Wise Man Brewing. 5-8 PM
Ribbon Cutting - Celebrate the reopening of the Trolley Pub with a ceremony conducted by Mayor Allen Joines, free food, and live music. 12-2 PM
Kaleidoscope Ball - Join Kaleideum for cocktails, dinner, and dancing at a Willy Wonka-themed ball! This event helps the museum provide access and programs to those who otherwise couldnât afford it. 6:30-11:30 PM

𧹠University: Wake Forest Universityâs annual Hit the Bricks raised a record-breaking $303,000+ for the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Cancer Center, with over 2,000 participants. The event, started by students in 2003, honors Brian Piccolo, who passed away from cancer at age 26.
âď¸ Non-profit: The Winston-Salem Coffee Trail began today, September 30! Donate $30 or more to Winston-Salem Rescue Mission and receive free drip coffee as you visit the 10 participating coffee shops. Participants who visit all 10 by December 31 will be entered into the grand prize drawing.
đ Ranking: Wake Forest University ranked No. 46 on U.S. News & World Reportâs list of Best National Universities. The university also ranked No. 35 in the Best Value Schools list.
đ Closed: Whitaker Square Gourmet Pizza closed on Sunday, September 29. In their announcement on social media, owners Antonio Scotto di Frega and Antonio Parascandolo said they will focus on their other business, Brotherâs Pizzeria, which is located downtown.
âď¸ Tourism: Visit Winston-Salem has launched a new ad campaign, which will feature experiences that make Winston-Salem âtwice as niceâ and invite visitors to âcome on in.â The campaign will feature a mix of ads highlighting Winston-Salemâs many dichotomies, such as arts and innovation.
