A MESSAGE FROM BELL, DAVIS & PITT P.A.
The Crucial Need for a Will
Did you know that if you die without a will, then North Carolina law specifies who gets your assets? Having a will is essential, regardless of your stage in life. We asked experts Travis and John from Bell, Davis & Pitt P.A. to explain why. Hereâs a quick rundown:
Any Age | A will lets loved ones easily manage your assets and ensures they're distributed according to your wishes. Without one, state laws may split assets between your spouse, children and/or parents.
20s and 30s, With Young Kids | Name a guardian to avoid uncertainty about who cares for your children.
40s and 50s | Consider setting up a trust if you donât want your young adult kids to receive everything at once.
60s and Up | Name a power of attorney and a healthcare power of attorney to protect yourself in case you can no longer make decisions for yourself.
Having a will isnât just about who gets what. Itâs about making sure your wishes are clear and making things easier for the people you care about.
