Ginger Bread Man Bakery | Opening early October
The dessert shop located next to Ardmore Coffee will offer vegan baked goods like cupcakes, muffins, brownies, and cookies.
The Tavern in Old Salem | Opening late 2024
This local favorite closed in 2019, but is now under renovation! Renovations will include installing new kitchen equipment and upgrading the restaurant’s parking & outdoor arbor dining area.
The Dutch Light Cocktail Bar | Opening soon
An upcoming greenhouse-inspired bar featuring floral and herb-forward craft cocktails, unique beers, and wines.
Ramen Mafia | Opening mid-September
From Venny Juniaty, the co-owner of Thai Harmony, the restaurant will serve ramen, yakitori, and Japanese rice bowls.
El Rey Super Mercado | Opening September 6
A new grocery store selling fresh meat, produce, hot tortillas, Mexican sweet bread, and cakes.
Manolo Café and Restaurant | Now open!
Enjoy coffee, breakfast items, and tapas in the space previously occupied by Pink Moon Cafe at the Rosenbacher House.
Wandering Sun Mead Hall | Now open!
This medieval-themed tavern serves mead, an alcoholic beverage made from fermented honey.
Clutch Coffee Bar | Opening this fall
Clutch’s second location in Winston-Salem will be located at 289 S Stratford Rd and serve customers from its drive-thru and walk-up window only.

Apply: The Minority Business Enterprise Grant Program is accepting applications through Monday, September 30. The grant program from Greater Winston-Salem, Inc. offers funding to support Black and Latinx-owned small businesses in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.
Opening Soon: Topgolf Greensboro is opening on Saturday, September 13! The venue will feature 72 outdoor climate-controlled hitting bays and a full-service restaurant & bar.
University: Wake Forest University recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new childcare and early education facility, KinderCare at WFU. Wake Forest faculty, staff, students, and full-time employees will receive priority enrollment.
Closed: The Breathing Room Yoga & Wellness Center closed this past weekend. The space will reopen as a wellness center under new management at an undisclosed date.
Housing: The City of Winston-Salem is accepting Letters of Interest for the development of affordable single-family homes. The city’s goal is to reduce the number of people experiencing homelessness in Winston-Salem. Letters of Interest are due Saturday, September 13.
Save the Date: Winston-Salem Fashion Week is September 19-29. The event features the work of apparel designers, textile designers, and accessories designers. Many of the events are open to the public and take place in various venues across Winston-Salem.

Start at the beginning of the Salem Creek Greenway (behind Marketplace Mall)
Follow the 5-mile path to Salem Lake
Loop around the lake’s beautiful 7-mile trail and take the Salem Creek Greenway back to where you started
The entire ride is 17 miles long, but the distance is easily customizable depending on where you start.
Stevie’s Tip: Don’t rush the ride; look up from time to time to take in the views!
