The Carolina Thunderbirds play their first home game on Friday, November 1! Learn about our City’s minor league hockey team and how you can watch them play.

  • Stats: The Carolina Thunderbirds played their first game in 2017 and won the Commissioner’s Cup in 2019! Since their 2019 victory, the Thunderbirds have made it to the Commissioner’s Cup Finals an additional two times.

  • The Season: The Carolina Thunderbirds will play nearly 30 home games this season! Their 2024-25 season began earlier this month and will conclude on April 12.

  • Where to Watch: The Carolina Thunderbirds’ home games are held at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Arena.

  • Price: Tickets for home games start at $12

  • Grand Opening - Celebrate the opening of Clutch Coffee Bar’s second Winston-Salem location with $1 medium drinks all day! 8 AM - 8 PM

  • Chili Cook-Off - Warm up with delicious chili, bonfires, and live music at the Coalpit. Proceeds from the chili cook-off go to training programs for future Forsyth County firefighters. 4 PM

  • Hoedown Throwdown - A country-themed block party at Foothills Tasting Room, featuring country karaoke and line dancing. 6-10 PM

  • Funky Llama Market - Shop from vendors selling art, crafts, pottery, and more at Divine Llama Vineyards. Make sure to say hi to the llamas! 12 PM

  • Walk to End Alzeihmer’s - Raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association by walking a 1- or 2-mile route starting at Truist Stadium. 10 AM

  • Art in the Park - Create a work of art at Blum-Blanding Park using free art kits provided by NCMA Winston-Salem (formerly SECCA). 11 AM - 2 PM

Sunday, November 3

  • Walk with Us - Join City with Dwellings on a 3.5-mile walk, visiting places frequented by people experiencing homelessness to better understand what a day in their life is like. 1-5 PM

  • Cocktail Class - Join Easytalk at the bar and learn how to infuse autumnal flavors into your cocktails! 4 PM

  • Angelo Artisan’s Holiday Market - Knock out your holiday shopping early at Wise Man Brewing. 12-5 PM

  • Choral Concert - The Winston-Salem Symphony Chorus performs with WSSU’s Singing Rams and an instrumental jazz trio. 3 PM

Monday, November 4

  • Squash Secrets - Learn how to make various dishes with butternut squash at Southern Home & Kitchen. 6 PM

  •  šŸ”Ø Update: The renovations to convert the historic Coca-Cola Bottling Plant into Salem Bottleworks are still underway. Salem Bottleworks will feature Bobby Boy Bakeshop’s second location, three new locally-owned restaurants, an event space, three studio apartments, and one four-bedroom Airbnb.

  • šŸ’¬ Conversation: Leadership Winston-Salem hosts ā€œThe Childcare Crisis: A Community Conversationā€ at Forsyth Tech’s Strickland Center on Thursday, November 21. The event will highlight the childcare crisis’ impact on local families and the economy, along with brainstorming potential solutions.

  • šŸ‘“ Now Open: Warby Parker just opened a location in the Thruway Center! The company sells affordably-priced prescription glasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. This is its ninth location in North Carolina.

  • šŸŽ“ University: Wake Forest University School of Divinity received $6.6 million from the Griffin Family Trust, bringing the Trust’s total support for the school to approximately $10 million. This gift was the largest donation in the school’s history.

  • šŸŽØ Art: The Arts District is getting a new mural! Majestic Pour, an art and crystal gallery, commissioned UNCSA alumnus Billy Jones to paint a mural on the side of its building. The mural will be called ā€œCrystal Daydreams.ā€

  • šŸ• Closing: Zito Pizzeria & Grill is closing on Friday, November 8, and will relocate to Mount Airy under the name Zito! Greek Kitchen. Evangelos and Helen Manginas opened the restaurant in 2014. After Evangelos’ death in 2018, his daughter Victoria took over restaurant operations.
