š Carolina Thunderbirds Are Back
Back on the Ice!
The Carolina Thunderbirds play their first home game on Friday, November 1! Learn about our Cityās minor league hockey team and how you can watch them play.
Stats: The Carolina Thunderbirds played their first game in 2017 and won the Commissionerās Cup in 2019! Since their 2019 victory, the Thunderbirds have made it to the Commissionerās Cup Finals an additional two times.
The Season: The Carolina Thunderbirds will play nearly 30 home games this season! Their 2024-25 season began earlier this month and will conclude on April 12.
Where to Watch: The Carolina Thunderbirdsā home games are held at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Arena.

šØ Update: The renovations to convert the historic Coca-Cola Bottling Plant into Salem Bottleworks are still underway. Salem Bottleworks will feature Bobby Boy Bakeshopās second location, three new locally-owned restaurants, an event space, three studio apartments, and one four-bedroom Airbnb.
š¬ Conversation: Leadership Winston-Salem hosts āThe Childcare Crisis: A Community Conversationā at Forsyth Techās Strickland Center on Thursday, November 21. The event will highlight the childcare crisisā impact on local families and the economy, along with brainstorming potential solutions.
š Now Open: Warby Parker just opened a location in the Thruway Center! The company sells affordably-priced prescription glasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. This is its ninth location in North Carolina.
š University: Wake Forest University School of Divinity received $6.6 million from the Griffin Family Trust, bringing the Trustās total support for the school to approximately $10 million. This gift was the largest donation in the schoolās history.
šØ Art: The Arts District is getting a new mural! Majestic Pour, an art and crystal gallery, commissioned UNCSA alumnus Billy Jones to paint a mural on the side of its building. The mural will be called āCrystal Daydreams.ā
š Closing: Zito Pizzeria & Grill is closing on Friday, November 8, and will relocate to Mount Airy under the name Zito! Greek Kitchen. Evangelos and Helen Manginas opened the restaurant in 2014. After Evangelosā death in 2018, his daughter Victoria took over restaurant operations.
