YMCA Mistletoe Run

  • đź’™ Fundraiser: Our “Raise a Glass for WNC” event was a huge success! Thank you to Bar NOLA, Yelp NC Triad, and the participating food trucks (Blue Skies Creamery, Astro Dogs, and Mexa Way) for making the event possible. Most of all, thank you to everyone who attended! Because of your generosity, we raised over $2,000 for those impacted by Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina.

  • 🎊 Now Open: Two new businesses opened this past weekend! Sage & Salt Bistro’s The Station is a new live music venue connected to the bistro at 300 S Liberty St. Betty on Burke, an upscale restaurant from the team behind Mozelle’s, opened at 1016 Burke St.

  • đź“– Save the Date: The Friends of the Central Library’s Big Book Sale is November 15-17. Find thousands of physical books, audiobooks, CDs, and DVDs at Forsyth County Central Library, with all proceeds benefiting the Library’s services and programs.

  • 🪙 Non-profit: Samaritan Ministries’ Penny Campaign kicks off on Friday, November 1! Donate your spare change to help provide warm meals and shelter to our hungry and homeless neighbors. You can pick up collection jars at Samaritan Ministries Mon-Fri from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM through December 31.

  • ✏️ Education: Legacy Traditional School plans to open a location in Winston-Salem for the 2026-27 academic year. The K-8 school is part of a network of tuition-free, public charter schools in Nevada, Arizona, and Texas. This will be the network’s first location in North Carolina.

  • 📢 City: The City of Winston-Salem is holding two community input drop-in sessions this week. Residents will review the City's current strategic focus areas and provide input on priorities for the next 24-48 months. Attend on Tuesday, October 29, at the Carl Russell Community Center or on Wednesday, October 30, at the Polo Park Community Center.

  • 🌱 Green Business: The Piedmont Environmental Alliance (PEA) needs you to vote for the Green Business of the Year! This year’s four nominees include Bashavia Gardens, Piedmont Federal Bank, Village Fabric Shop, and MO’Empanadas. The winner will be announced at PEA’s Annual Party on November 14.
