Thanksgiving is here! If you have family in town, here are seven activities you can do together.

Ice Skating at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds

  • Ice Skating: Glide across the ice at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds; public skate times are available through Sunday.

  • Spectacular Holiday Blooms: Starting Friday, stroll through Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden and enjoy over 8,000 illuminated ‘flowers.’

  • Dabble Art Bar: The holiday activities menu debuts on Friday! Paint ornaments, make cards, construct “gingerboard” houses, and more.

  • Christmas Kickoff: Join Koren Farms on Friday to make ornaments and gingerbread houses while enjoying hayrides, s’mores, alpacas, and more! Check back for more holiday events throughout December.

  • Christmas Festival: Create memories at McLaurin Farms with light show hayrides, pictures with Santa, and other holiday activities! Available through December 30.

  • Kersey Valley Christmas: Experience a winter wonderland with magical sets, Santa’s workshop, and kids’ activities. Available through December 23.

  • Millstone Creek Orchards: Decorate cookies, visit Santa, and make a Christmas wreath. Available through November 26, December 9-10, and December 16-17.

Friday, November 24

  • CycleBar Market - Shop local vendors, meet the team, and join in on a Glow Ride at CycleBar. 9 AM*

  • Harvest Market - Support small businesses by shopping from local vendors at West Salem Public House. 11 AM - 3 PM

  • Drag Queen Storytime - Bookmarks hosts a guest reader with face painting and bracelet making. 10:30 AM

  • Comedy Tour - Climb aboard the trolley for a hilarious trip around town, featuring an onboard comedy show and a tasting at a local brewpub. 7 PM

  • Merry Maker Market - Discover more than 25 vendors at Paul J. Ciener Botanical Gardens. Also available Saturday.

Saturday, November 25

  • Home Alone In Concert - Celebrate the holiday season with a film presentation of Home Alone featuring the Winston-Salem Symphony’s orchestra at R.J. Reynolds Auditorium. Also available Sunday.*

  • Holiday Market - Come and shop Roar’s first holiday indoor market showcasing local artists and vendors. 11 AM - 4 PM

  • Trolley Shopping - Hop on the trolley and explore the local businesses of downtown Winston-Salem. 12-6 PM

  • Wreath Workshop - Create your own holiday wreath at Mossy Hill Farm. Materials provided. 2-4 PM

  • Camel City Craft Fair - Find the perfect Christmas gift while enjoying live music and food trucks at Foothills Brewing Tasting Room. 12-5 PM

Sunday, November 26

  • DIY Workshop - Make your own vintage ceramic project at Tucker’s Tap Yard. 2 PM

  • Wreath Workshop - Decorate a natural wreath at Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden. Materials are provided, but participants may also bring their own. 3:30 PM

  • Cocktails Class - Join Easytalk at the bar for its popular whiskey tasting and cocktails class. 4 PM

Monday, November 27

  • Holiday Pet Photo - Bring your furry friend to Hanes Mall for a picture with Santa. 11 AM - 7 PM

  • Sheet Pan Suppers - Discover the art of cooking complete meals on a single sheet pan at Southern Home & Kitchen. 6-8 PM

  • Book Trivia - Gather your team and prepare to be tested on your knowledge of books and authors at Bookmarks Bookstore! 7 PM

Other News

  • New Stores: A Publix opened at West Edge Shopping Center (5525 Robin Lark Circle). According to signage at West Edge, Dunkin Donuts and Jersey Mikes will also be opening at the shopping center.

  • Ribbon Cutting: Greater Winston-Salem will celebrate City Barbeque’s grand opening on November 30. This will be the restaurant’s 12th location in North Carolina.

  • Closing: The physical location of The Board Babe will close at the end of 2023. However, it will still offer catering services in 2024.

  • Support Local: Lot 63, an upcoming taproom and coffeehouse in Old Salem, has launched the Founder’s Club initiative. The initiative will kickstart Lot 63’s grand opening celebration.

  • Announced: Elderflour Baking Co, a beloved pop-up bakery in Winston-Salem, is opening a brick-and-mortar in Mocksville! Owner Gee Burcham will be opening the new storefront at 806 N Main Street in March 2024.

  • Get Connected: The Winston-Salem Police Department is seeking engagement with local businesses in helping to support the community’s safety. The “Get Connected Winston-Salem” initiative allows businesses to share security camera feeds with the WSPD, allowing you to control what and when to share.

  • Christmas Wrapped in Brass - The North Carolina Brass Band celebrates the Christmas season with two performances of holiday favorites! Performances are December 1 at Hanes Auditorium and December 2 at UNCG Auditorium.
