A New Chapter for The Salem Academy Building

Have you heard? The Salem Academy building will be converted into a boutique hotel and conference center!

  • What: Salem Academy and College is partnering with Mayfair Hospitality Group to renovate the building, which will be operated by a to-be-selected hotel chain.

  • Why: Salem Academy integrated with the college facilities in 2021, which left the building empty. Salem Academy and College created a task force to decide what to do with the building, which led to the idea of a boutique hotel and conference center.

  • What to Expect: 86 boutique hotel rooms, conference and meeting spaces, a 250-person auditorium, and an onsite restaurant and bar.

  • Timeline: 12-18 months will be spent acquiring historic tax credits, followed by 12-24 months of construction. The hotel—which has yet to be named—plans to open in 2027.
