• SummerLark - Barenaked Ladies performs at Bailey Park for Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist’s annual benefit concert. Listen to music, grab a bite from a food truck, and enjoy a spectacular fireworks finale! 7 PM*

• Soccer Match - The Salem City Beasts face off against Charlotte Independence at Truist Sports Park. 7 PM

• Floral Arrangement - Create a beautiful bouquet with The Titled Tulip at West Bend Bar - just in time for Mother’s Day! 2-4 PM

• Circus Show - Circus EVO brings a free, outdoor performance to Winston Square Park. Register to attend. Also available Sunday.

• Pups & Pilates - Join Club Pilates at Forsyth Humane Society for a fitness class followed by playtime with puppies or dogs! 3 PM

• Kids Dance Party - Kids take over the dance floor at The Ramkat! Arrive early - the first 250 kids get a party favor. 2 PM

• Stretch for HOPE - Stretch out with a yoga class at Synergy followed by a delicious lunch at their neighbor, East of Texas! All proceeds benefit HOPE of Winston-Salem. 10 AM - 1 PM

• Kaleideum After Dark - Explore the museum, sing karaoke, and compete in games like who can build the fastest LEGO car. Ages 21+ only. 6:30-9:30 PM

• Nia Imani Franklin - The Winston-Salem native and 2019 Miss America performs with the Winston-Salem Symphony at Reynolds Auditorium. 7:30 PM

• Sacred Movement - Join Fair Share Farm for a meditative sequence that awakens inner and outer presence, strength, and joy. 10 AM

• Fireweed Dinner - Join Native Root at West Salem Public House for a 5-course menu cooked over an open fire. 6 PM

• Mom at the Farm - Pick strawberries, explore a vendor market, and grab a bite from one of the food trucks at Robertson Family Farm. 10 AM - 4 PM

• Dance Party - Head to ROAR for Groove Lab’s Open Air Experiment, featuring live DJs. 3-8 PM

• Dog Moms - Celebrate Mother’s Day at Tucker’s Tap Yard! Bring your furry friend and enjoy a special gift for moms. 1 PM

• Angelo Artisan’s Market - Discover handmade items crafted by local artists and makers at Wise Man Brewing. 12-5 PM

• Live at Tanglewood - Spread out a blanket at Tanglewood Park and enjoy a free concert, featuring the Piedmont Wind Symphony and The Queen Bees. 2-5 PM

Monday, May 13

• Dance Class - Learn salsa or bachata at SonCaribe Latin Dance! Bachata levels 1 and 2 at 6:30 PM, salsa levels 1 and 2 at 7:30 PM.

• Non-profit: Habitat for Humanity will build five homes in five days during its Building Blitz, which runs May 13-17. You can support the project by donating to feed the 125 builders who make the Blitz possible.
  
  

• New Location: Incendiary Brewing Co. is opening a new location in Greensboro’s Revolution Mill! The local brewery first opened its doors in 2018 and also has locations in Lewisville and Raleigh.
  
  

• Upcoming: Gears and Guitars returns! This ultimate cycling + free live music experience will take over 4^th Street and Bailey Park on May 24-25.
  
  

• Tennis: Tickets for the Winston-Salem Open went on sale today, May 8, at 10 AM. The tournament will be held August 17-24 at the Wake Forest University Tennis Complex.
  
  

• Awards: The Spirit of North Carolina Awards offer the various United Ways of North Carolina the chance to honor organizations and individuals who exemplify the “spirit” of their community. This year, seven winners were from United Way of Forsyth County’s nominations!

Green Light

Winston-Salem approved a new transit service provider to improve its bus system!

• What: In Monday’s City Council meeting, the council approved a 5-year, $150 million contract for RATP Dev USA. The company will take over operations on August 1.
  
  

• Why: Last year, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) told the Winston-Salem Transit Authority (WSTA) it needed to look for a new transit service provider; WSTA has been working with TransDev since 2010.
  
  

• Changes: The new contract is an operations-style contract, meaning that RATP Dev USA will have more responsibility than TransDev did. This change will allow WSTA to focus on transit planning, FTA compliance, and ridership growth.
  
  

• Improvements: The city expects to improve the safety and efficiency of its transportation network + rider experience and bring back full night service.
