Face to Face
Wake Forest University recently announced its Face to Face Speaker Forum season 4 lineup! The speaker list includes high-profile public figures like Peyton Manning and John Legend.
The Lineup
September 11: Peyton Manning at LJVM Coliseum
November 21: Anderson Cooper at Wait Chapel
December 5: Jesmyn Ward at Wait Chapel
February 27: David Brooks at Wait Chapel
April 8: John Legend at LJVM Coliseum
Tickets
Season subscriptions went on sale May 1st. There are multiple tier levels with varying prices starting at $300.
Tickets for individual events will go on sale beginning August 1.

Floral Arranging - Join Blossom & Bloom Floristry at The Playground Golf & Sports Bar to learn the basics of floral design. This class is perfect for making a Mother’s Day arrangement to gift or display at home. 6 PM
Author Event - Max Brallier visits Bookmarks to celebrate his latest release, The Last Comics on Earth: Too Many Villains! The free event features activities, a presentation from the author, and a book signing. 5:30 PM

Musical - Winston-Salem Theatre Alliance presents Once On This Island, a Caribbean-set retelling of The Little Mermaid. Show runs through May 19.
Bavarian Circus - Appearing in the US for the first time, Germany’s Great Bavarian Circus features performances from 13 members of the Spindler family! Show runs through May 19 at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds.
Candlelight Concert - The Listeso String Quartet performs Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and other music selections at Freedman Theatre under the glow of candlelight. Performances at 6:30 PM and 8:45 PM.
Art Class - Create a resin-poured charcuterie board with Artistic Edge Art Studio at Incendiary Brewing Lewisville. No experience necessary! 6 PM
Stage Show - The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem presents Ripcord, where two elderly women compete for the best room at their senior living facility. Show runs through May 19.
Movie Screening - Watch Shall We Dance? at Old Town Neighborhood Center. The Center’s May Film Festival features screenings every Thursday at 7 PM.

Voting: The second primary election takes place on Tuesday, May 14. This election will determine which candidates from the Republican party will run for the office of lieutenant governor, state auditor, and US House District 13 representative in the November election.
Recreation: Winston-Salem’s splash pads have reopened! Public splash pads not connected to pools will open daily from 10 AM - 9 PM. Splash pads connected to pools (like Polo Park Pool) will follow pool operation hours. Splash pads will remain open until September 30.

Camp: Registration for the Nike Youth Football Camp at Wake Forest University is open! The camp runs from July 15-18 and has half-day and full-day options. Kids ages 5-14 will learn football fundamentals, the importance of teamwork, and good sportsmanship from Wake Forest players and staff.

Get ready to participate in Hope du Jour, Crisis Control Ministries’ 34th annual fundraiser on Tuesday, May 7!
What: On the day of the event, participating restaurants donate 10% of their proceeds to Crisis Control Ministries.
Who: Crisis Control Ministries is Forsyth County’s largest non-profit provider of emergency assistance. The non-profit provides individuals or families experiencing a financial crisis with short-term services such as food, utility bill assistance, housing payments, and prescriptions.
Participants: There are too many to include here! Over 100 businesses are participating this year, so there’s a good chance that one of your favorites is on the list.
