Friday, March 8

• A Night in the Quarter - Come to the Wake Forest University School of Medicine for a silent auction, catered food, and live music. The charity event supports the patients who benefit from the DEAC Clinic. 6-8 PM

• Houseplant 101 - Wish you had a green thumb? Learn how to keep your plants happy and healthy at D.O.S.E. Artist Collective. 7 PM

• Opening Night - The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem presents Belleville at the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts. Performances run through Sunday.

• Consignment Sale - Head to Messiah Moravian Church for a consignment sale featuring clothes, shoes, baby gear, and more. Also available Saturday.

Saturday, March 9

• Brass Concert - The North Carolina Brass Band presents “Brass Around the World” at Salem College. 3 PM*

• Open House - Tour the new birth center at Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center. 9 AM - 2 PM

• Deacon Dash - Lace up your shoes and participate in the Fun Run or 5K at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds! Proceeds from the event support The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Winston-Salem. Fun Run begins at 9 AM, 5K begins at 9:30 AM.

• Women’s Legacy Parade - Celebrate women-owned businesses and organizations! The parade starts at the corner of Fourth and Broad Street and is brought to you by The Legacy Foundation for Women. 1 PM

• Painting Event - Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day early by painting “Patrick the Lucky Gnome” at Radar Brewing Company. 2 PM

• Free Concert - Members of the WSS Youth Symphony play alongside their professional counterparts in the Winston-Salem Symphony at Wait Chapel. 3 PM

• Watercolor Class - Grab your son or daughter (over 6 years old) and come learn from watercolor artist, Elizabeth Myers, at The Mulberry Table! 10 AM

• Taste of Peru - The Vecino Center invites you to enjoy traditional cuisine from Peru like Pollo a La Brasa at Viva Chicken. 6:30 PM

• Kids Book Read - Bring your kids to Bookmarks Bookstore for an interactive reading with activities that focus on literacy skills. 10:30 AM

• Craft Class - West & Co offers a 3D geo wood barn quilt painting class at Joymongers Barrel Hall. 6:30 PM

• Murder Me, I’m Irish - Incendiary Brewing Company hosts a St. Patrick’s Day-themed murder mystery event where you’re part of the story! 7 PM

• Initiative: “We Heal Together Winston-Salem” is launching a four-year initiative on March 7 to make our city a more trauma-resilient community by addressing specific needs in east Winston-Salem. You can learn more by attending the kickoff event at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church from 5-8 PM.
  
  

• Business: Hoots Beer Co. announced it is ceasing its bar services and will only operate as a pub. Hoots will convert its brewery into a music venue and event space.
  
  

• City: The Winston-Salem City Council approved an ordinance allowing residents to create natural landscape areas in their yards.
  
  

• Save the Date: Appalachian State Head Football Coach Shawn Clark will speak at R. J. Reynolds Auditorium on April 18. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Bethesda Center for the Homeless.
  
  

• Resource: Proyecto Mariposa recently launched! The website is designed to be a resource for Winston-Salem’s Hispanic population and features educational courses, job searching, and more.
