šŸ  Preserving Black History

Triad Cultural Arts held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, February 28, for its living history museum, the Shotgun House Legacy Site!

  • What: The Shotgun House Legacy Site in Happy Hill features two early 20th-century shotgun houses, one of which was restored to showcase life for Black residents during that time.

  • Why It Matters: Most of the original homes in Happy Hill have been demolished, erasing important Black history from Winston-Salem. The Shotgun House Legacy Site ensures that these historic buildings are preserved for future generations.

  • Tour the Space: You can experience the Shotgun House Legacy Site for yourself this Saturday, March 8, at Triad Cultural Artsā€™ free Community Day Celebration.

  • Looking Ahead: Triad Cultural Arts announced plans for a Multi-Use Center, which will be located between and behind the two houses.

    • The Multi-Use Center will feature a welcome pavilion, a 120-seat auditorium, an exhibition/event space, community spaces, and a gallery.
