Get ready for the Dirty Dozen 5K Obstacle Mud Run and Fun Run on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
Run through mud, climb over obstacles, and crawl in the mud! Proceeds from the Dirty Dozen 5K Obstacle Mud Run and Fun Run will benefit people in the community, Y innovative health programs benefiting cancer survivors, and other chronic disease programs.*

Storytime - Bring the kids to Bookmarks for a read-aloud, a meet & greet with Elephant and Piggie, and a voting activity where kids learn about the voting process. 10:30 AM
Children’s Parade - A parade at Kernersville’s town hall courtyard for children 6 and under! Activities will include a YMCA bounce house, yard games, and free ice cream for the kids. 10 AM
Free Symphony - A quartet of Winston-Salem Symphony musicians perform rock and pop favorites at the Coal Pit in Innovation Quarter. 7 PM

Baseball - The Dash takes on the Rome Emperors at Truist Stadium this weekend. Enjoy fireworks after the game and come back to celebrate Bolt’s birthday at Sunday’s game!

Ranking: The Hollywood Reporter ranked the UNCSA School of Drama No. 3 in the world for the second year in a row! The school has produced alumni such as Jake Lucy from White Lotus and Stephen McKinley Henderson from Dune.
College: USC’s Pullias Center for Higher Education released a case study highlighting Forsyth Tech’s significant improvements in student completion rates and equity outcomes. The overall completion rate has risen to 31%, the completion rate gap for Black students has decreased by 15%, and Hispanic/Latino students have the highest completion rate.
Update: SummerLark, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist’s annual benefit concert, raised $400,000 for its Cancer Patient Support Program! Mark your calendar for next year’s event on May 10.

Art: A new mural on the Big Winston Warehouse depicts the members of The “5” Royales, a rock ‘n’ roll group from Winston-Salem that performed from 1942 to 1965. Artist Elio Mercado, known as Evoca1, is the painter behind the mural.
Business: Excel Interior Door has chosen Winston-Salem as the site for its new manufacturing site. The company will invest $10.5 million into the site and create 69 new jobs over the next 5 years.
