Celebrate Juneteenth

Juneteenth is coming up on Wednesday, June 19. The holiday commemorates the official end of slavery in the United States following the Civil War. Celebrate this historic day by attending one (or several) Juneteenth events in Winston-Salem!

Juneteenth Festival | Saturday, June 15 | 1-8 PM | Innovation Quarter

  • Triad Cultural Arts presents the 25th annual Juneteenth Festival! Enjoy family activities, a vendor market, food trucks, live music, and more.

Juneteenth Jubilee | Saturday, June 15 | 6-10 PM | SECCA

  • Celebrate Black creativity through musical performances, art experiences, small businesses, food vendors, and more.

Freedom's Melody - A Juneteenth Brunch | Sunday, June 16 | 12:30-5 PM | Sweet Potatoes Restaurant

  • Enjoy a delicious brunch of curried shrimp and grits, sausage gravy over a sweet potato biscuit, and “A Sunday Thing” fried chicken while listening to a live DJ.

  • Picnic in the Park - Spread out a blanket in Bailey Park, grab a bite from a food truck, and listen to live music from The Band Unwritten. 6 PM

Thursday, June 13

  • Pottery Sale - Sawtooth’s annual “Not Quite Perfect Pottery Sale” features imperfect pieces donated by students and instructors. Find a unique piece at The Intergenerational Center for Arts and Wellness. 4-7 PM

  • Musical - The Kernersville Little Theatre presents Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at Kernersville Elementary School. Performances run through June 23.

  • Intern Experience - Are you a college intern at a local business? You’re invited to Wake Forest Biotech Place to network, collaborate, and learn about Winston-Salem. Our founder, Christy Bellis, will speak at the event! 4 PM

  • Open Mic Night - The Winston-Salem Writers hosts an open mic night at The Bookhouse! Share your original work with fellow writers. 6:45 PM

Friday, June 14

  • Fundraiser Party - Join The American Cancer Society at Legacy Stables for the inaugural Traid Red, White, & Blue Party! The event includes live music, hors d'oeuvres, a raffle, and a silent auction. 7 PM

  • Behind the Scenes - Discover rooms at the Reynolda House not usually open to the public during this unique tour. 1 PM

  • Noche de Arte - Enjoy a paint & sip party at The Intergenerational Center benefitting the Hispanic League Scholarship Program. This is a bilingual activity! 6 PM

  • Lyrics by the Lake - Get immersed in art at SECCA with musical performances, spoken word poetry, comedy, live painting, and a vendor's market. 6-9 PM

  • Outdoor Movie - Bring a lawn chair or blanket to watch White Men Can’t Jump in MUSE Winston-Salem’s parking lot. Rated R. Food trucks onsite. Movie starts at dusk.

  • Save the Date: Pride Winston-Salem’s Festival, Parade, and Food Truck Rodeo is Saturday, June 22. Find 100+ vendors on Main Street, taste the flavors of 20+ food trucks on Liberty Street, and watch the parade as it marches down 4th Street.

  • City: The City Council of Winston-Salem approved a contract to resurface dozens of city roads. Resurfacing projects are expected to begin next month and last through July 2025.

  • Market: Did you know the Cobblestone Farmers Market is open on Wednesdays from 8:30-11 AM during the summer? The year-round market is also open on Saturdays from 8:30 AM - 12 PM and features ~30 local vendors.

  • Reality Show: Winston-Salem native Coye Simmons is set to appear on season 6 of Love Island USA! You can watch the season premier on Peacock tomorrow, June 11, at 9 PM.

  • Art: A documentary titled How to Feed an Artist is being filmed in Winston-Salem. It will tell the story of Mary Haglund and how she used her restaurant, Mary’s Gourmet Diner, to feed the city's artists. If you have a photo or video from your time at the restaurant, you can submit it here.
