🀄️ Mahjong Craze

Mahjong, a Chinese tile-based strategy game, has seen a recent surge in popularity across the United States. Wondering where you can learn Mahjong in Winston-Salem? Check out these local instructors!

Camel City Mahjong: Ashley Pearce founded Camel City Mahjong with her mother, Libby, in November 2024, continuing a beloved family tradition.

Momahjong: Morgan Thomas became interested in Mahjong when she watched Crazy Rich Asians. She later inherited her late grandmother’s vintage tile set, learned to play, and started Momahjong in 2024!

• Learn & Play: Morgan holds beginner lessons and open play at East of Texas and Maddie Cakes Bakery.

• Blueberry Day - Take the family to Apple Family Farm for vendors, music, kids activities, and—of course—blueberries! 9 AM - 4 PM

• Free Concert - Camel City Yacht Club performs smooth rock from the ‘70s and ‘80s at Shallowford Square. Food trucks onsite. 7-9 PM

• 🎾 Tennis: Two-time Winston-Salem Open champion John Isner will make an appearance at this year’s Open! Isner won the Winston-Salem Open in 2011 and 2012, making him the only player in the tournament’s history to win back-to-back singles titles. He will hold meet-and-greet and autograph sessions at the tournament on August 21 & 22.
  
  

• 🍨 Dessert: Yelp Triad’s Summer of Sweets kicks off at Chill Nitro! From July 15–20, Yelp users who RSVP will receive a free treat when they visit Chill Nitro. • 🏎 Racing: The Clash will return to Bowman Gray Stadium in February 2026! NASCAR held its season-opening Cup Series race in Winston-Salem for the first time this past February, which was attended by 17,000 fans. (FOX8 WGHP)
