  • Historical Exhibition | August 16 | Reynolda House Museum | Discover the history of the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company through Reynolda’s newest exhibit, “Camel City: Tobacco & Transformation, 1875-1964.”

  • Honeybee Festival | August 16 | Fourth of July Park, Kernersville | This un-BEE-lievable event (sorry, we couldn’t resist) features 130 vendors, food trucks, kids’ activities, and—of course—honey.

  • Winston-Salem Open | August 16-23 | Wake Forest University Tennis Complex | Watch some of the world’s top tennis players face off in this internationally acclaimed tournament.

  • Book Fair for Adults | August 17 | Bookmarks | Recapture that nostalgic book fair feeling and shop curated selections of adult fiction & nonfiction.

  • WFU Season Opener | August 29 | Allegacy Stadium | Cheer on the Demon Deacons as they take on Kennesaw State in their first game under head coach Jake Dickert.

  • 🏈 Jr. Deacs Kids Club: Got a sports-loving kid? Sign them up for Jr. Deacs—Wake Forest’s official kids club—for exclusive gear, free tickets, and fun all season! Open to kids 12 and under.

  • ⭐️ Gold Rush Game: Football for a cause! Last year’s game raised $22,510 for Brenner Children’s Hospital. Join the cause this year on September 6 and help fight childhood cancer.*

Saturday, August 2

  • Studio Ghibli Festival - Join a/perture and the Vecino Center to celebrate Japanese culture, featuring Studio Ghibli screenings and cultural activities! 3-9 PM

  • Back to School Bash - Celebrate the end of summer with live music, a Moana meet-and-greet, and food vendors at Childress Vineyards! 10 AM - 5 PM

  • Chase the Dream 5K - Run in a glow-in-the-dark race at Bailey Park! Proceeds benefit the Dream Center. Races start at 8 PM.

  • Summer on Fourth - Jam out to a performance by Envision in front of Foothills Brewpub. Concessions available. 7 PM

  • Puzzle Contest - Assemble a team and race to complete a puzzle at The Playground! Winners will receive one $100 Playground gift card and tickets to a performance by Camel City Yacht Club. 2 PM

  • Pups & Pilates - Join Club Pilates at Forsyth Humane Society for a fitness class surrounded by adoptable dogs. 3 PM

  • Animation Club - Take your teen to NCMA Winston-Salem to watch/discuss animated films and shows, explore art styles, and connect with fellow animation-loving teens! 2 PM

  • Golf4Action - Compete in a two-person scramble at Winston Lake Golf Course. Proceeds support Authoring Action’s Just Us filmmaking program. 9 AM

Sunday, August 3

  • Food Truck Festival - Check out 20+ food trucks at Burke Street! 3-8 PM

  • Supper Club - Join Camel City Supper Club at Joymongers Barrel Hall to share a meal with new friends. Don’t forget to bring a dish—this month’s theme is build-your-own bowls! 6 PM

  • Family First Workshop - Take the kids to the Reynolda House Museum to make one-of-a-kind stationery and swim in Reynolda’s 1930s-era pool. 2 PM

  • Cocktail Class - Learn to craft spicy margaritas (and try a couple) at easytalk! Classes at 2 PM and 4 PM.

  • Sounds of Support - Head to Tanglewood Pizza Company for delicious pizza and three live music groups! A portion of proceeds benefits recovery efforts in Western North Carolina. 3-8:30 PM

Monday, August 4

  • Sourdough DIY - Learn how to care for a sourdough starter and bake your own focaccia at Crafted Kitchen & Market. 5:30 PM

  • Book Talk - Head to Gas Hill Drinking Room for a conversation and book signing with Mike Ayers, author of “Sharing in the Groove.” 7 PM

  • 👖Sale: Don’t miss this denim deal — BOGO jeans at Goodwill, just in time for back-to-school! Buy one pair, get one free through August 3 at all Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina retail stores.*

  • 🔬 Business: Innovation Quarter has acquired the Linden Center, a 190,000-square-foot building that previously housed Wells Fargo. The building will be repurposed into flexible laboratories and biomanufacturing spaces, further expanding the district’s footprint in life sciences.

  • 😢 Closing: Mojito Latin Soul Food will close on August 24 due to a decline in business. Owners Michael and Michelle Millan began Mojito as a food truck in 2017 before opening the brick-and-mortar location in 2020. (Old Gold & Black)

  • 🗳 Vote: Help the City of Winston-Salem name its newest trail! The Salem Parkway Multi-Use Path, which began construction in July 2024, is nearing the end of its first phase. Cast your vote for what its official name should be!

  • 🔨 Update: Construction is underway on Creekside at The Grounds, a new apartment community! Designed for upperclassmen and graduate students, the project will feature 229 units within walking distance from Wake Forest’s campus. Creekside is The Grounds’ first residential development and is slated for completion by Fall 2027.

  • 🎨 Arts: Mixxer is partnering with Art Pharmacy to provide arts prescriptions! Art Pharmacy is a national initiative in which healthcare providers “prescribe” creative experiences to patients to improve mental health, reduce isolation, and promote healing. The initiative is led by the UNCSA’s Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts.
