  • What: Phase 1 of the Salem Parkway Multi-Use Path will connect the Winston-Salem Strollway to Liberty Street and will take approximately 12 months to complete.

  • Ceremony: Governor Roy Cooper, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, and Mayor Allen Joines attended the ceremony in front of the Green Street Pedestrian Bridge. Even Bolt (Winston-Salem Dash’s mascot) picked up a shovel.

  • Why it matters: This project will connect the city with more trails and walkways - a step in the right direction toward achieving the city’s Downtown Plan connectivity goal.

  • Looking ahead: Phase 2 of the project is under design and will extend the path from W Fourth Street to Lockland Avenue, ultimately connecting the Winston-Salem Strollway to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist.
