The International Black Theatre Festival® (IBTF) turns Winston-Salem into a vibrant performing arts hub from July 29 to August 3, featuring 100+ exciting theatrical shows! In addition to mainstage theatrical performances, IBTF includes:

Tequila Tasting - Learn about and taste El Mayor Tequila at Alma Mexicana. Chips, guac, queso, and salsa included! 6 PM
Baseball - Watch the Dash play against the Greensboro Grasshoppers at Truist Stadium! There are games every day through Sunday, including theme nights like Super Splash Day, Bolt’s Summer Games, and Disc Golf Night.
Wednesday, July 31
Harry Potter’s Birthday - Celebrate the Boy Who Lived with trivia or themed treats at Incendiary Brewing, Foothills Tasting Room, and Small Batch Beer Co.
Vendor Market - The Winston-Salem Urban League hosts a four-day vendor marketplace featuring goods such as health & beauty products, African attire, jewelry, and more. Runs through Saturday.
Spice Blending Class - Learn to craft custom spice blends at Wise Man Brewing. Participants take home recipe cards and portions of each blend. 5 PM
Thursday, August 1
Free Yoga - Stretch out with Lotus Yoga at Bailey Park. Don’t forget to bring your mat! 6 PM
Trivia Night - Test your knowledge at Tucker’s Tap Yard for prizes, giveaways, and the chance to win tickets to the 2024 Winston-Salem Open! 7 PM

TeenTastic - Teenagers ages 13-17 are invited to the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds to enjoy a fashion show, carnival, and performances from Timothy Fletcher of America’s Got Talent! Runs through Saturday.
Laser Shows - Experience a laser show set to the music of Taylor Swift or Bruno Mars at Kaleideum. Taylor Swift show starts at 8:45 PM, Bruno Mars show starts at 10 PM.
First Friday - Browse a vendor market, jam out to live music, and explore local artist Holly Evans’ work at Wise Man Brewing. 5-8 PM
Comedy Night - In need of a laugh? Beer Run Comedy performs a free show at Wise Man Brewing! 9 PM

Other News
Input: Forward 2045 is the official guide for future growth and development in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County. Members of the public can offer feedback at public meetings held by The City-Council Planning Board this summer. The next public meeting is Wednesday, July 31, at Sprague Street Community Center.
Entries: The Carolina Classic Fair is October 4-13 - that’s only two months away! Sign up to compete in one of the dozens of competitions by Monday, September 2.
School: WS/FCS is launching a bus-tracking app. Edulog Bus Portal provides parents and guardians with planned arrivals/departures and location information for their child’s bus rides. The app is free to download from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Art: Have you seen the new mural on the 15th Street water tank? Ernel Martinez painted the colorful mural and drew inspiration from a poem written by local artists about our city. You can see the mural when driving along northbound U.S. 52.
Recreation: Forsyth County is breaking ground on Highland Avenue Park at the corner of 5th Street and Highland Avenue on Thursday, August 1. The new park will include a basketball half-court, a pickleball court, an open grass play area, and more. The park is expected to be completed in early 2025.

Get ready to enjoy delicious dishes at Men Who Cook, SECU Family House’s annual fundraiser event!
The Competition: Local male amateur chefs and their cooking teams serve up tasty dinner entrees in a battle to see who’s the best chef!
The Cause: All proceeds benefit SECU Family House, a non-profit providing affordable lodging and support services for referred adult patients and/or their caregivers who travel to Winston-Salem for medical treatment.
Participating: Tickets cover all food and beverage costs. Attendees vote for the winners of the People’s Choice and Crowd Pleaser awards through “tip chips” (available for purchase at the event) and the Crowd Pleaser token.
