50 Top Pizza USA recently ranked Mission Pizza Napoletana as the No. 21 pizza restaurant in the country! This is the 4th year in a row the restaurant, owned by Peyton Smith, has appeared on the list.

  • What: Mission Pizza Napoletana (MPN) opened in 2014 and serves incredible Neopolitan pizza best enjoyed fresh from the oven.

  • Previous Awards: Since opening, the restaurant has received recognition several times:

    • The Daily Meal listed MPN among the Top 101 Pizza Places in America in 2019

    • Food & Wine wrote that it had the best pizza in North Carolina in 2021

    • Owner Peyton Smith was a semifinalist for the James Beard Award for Best Chef Southeast in 2022.

  • Interview: Our team had the opportunity to talk with Peyton Smith about MPN and his thoughts on topics such as ranch on pizza and future plans for the business. Hereā€™s a sneak peek:

    • What were your initial goals for Mission Pizza Napoletana?

      ā€œWhen I built this business, my business plan said that we would be the best restaurant in Winston-Salem and make the best pizza in North Carolina. I think thereā€™s something powerful [about making a plan]ā€¦if I say it out loud I have to live up to it.ā€

  • Sidewalk Sale - Shop local at Reynolda Village! Businesses will have special deals from 10 AM - 4 PM, though hours may vary from business to business.

  • Ropes Course Day - Experience a day of excitement at Miracle Heights Adventures in Crossnore! Enjoy a 600' zipline, climbing walls, a giant swing, a 40' QuickFlight, and more. Plus, meet Bolt, the Winston-Salem Dashā€™s mascot! 9 AM - 2 PM

  • Outdoor Movie - Grab a bite at East of Texas and watch The Parent Trap! Proceeds from the eventā€™s movie-themed specials will benefit Old Salem Museum & Gardens. 8:45 PM

  • Decade Night - Slide back into the ā€˜90s and ā€˜00s at Childress Vineyards and listen to iconic music in a live show from Split Second Sound. 7 PM

  • Arts For EveryBody - This arts and health fair at United Health Centers will feature spoken word, singing, storytelling, and free health screenings. 10 AM - 3 PM

Sunday, July 28

  • Cocktail Class - Learn about and taste different tequilas before making your own tequila cocktail at Easytalk. Classes at 2 PM and 4 PM.

  • Kindling Dinner - Join Native Root at West Salem Public House for a cookout-style four-course meal prepared over an open fire. 5:30 PM

  • Yoga at the Winery - Take a yoga class with instructors from Breathe Yoga Studios at Meladoni Cellars. 11 AM

  • Silent Book Club - Cozy up with a good book in the company of fellow readers at Footnote Coffee. There will be designated times for mingling and reading. 3 PM

  • Gardens Tour - Visit five community gardens in Winston-Salem and meet their leaders! Meet at the N.C. Cooperative Extensionā€™s Forsyth County Center. 4:30 PM

Monday, July 29

  • Theatre Festival - The International Black Theatre Festival kicks off! The week-long event features theatrical performances, films, spoken word poetry, discussions, and more. Runs through August 3.

  • Sushi Class - Learn how to make sushi at Joymongers Barrel Hall with GringoNinja and enjoy all-you-can-eat sushi! 6:30 PM
