50 Top Pizza USA recently ranked Mission Pizza Napoletana as the No. 21 pizza restaurant in the country! This is the 4th year in a row the restaurant, owned by Peyton Smith, has appeared on the list.
What: Mission Pizza Napoletana (MPN) opened in 2014 and serves incredible Neopolitan pizza best enjoyed fresh from the oven.
Previous Awards: Since opening, the restaurant has received recognition several times:
The Daily Meal listed MPN among the Top 101 Pizza Places in America in 2019
Food & Wine wrote that it had the best pizza in North Carolina in 2021
Owner Peyton Smith was a semifinalist for the James Beard Award for Best Chef Southeast in 2022.
Interview: Our team had the opportunity to talk with Peyton Smith about MPN and his thoughts on topics such as ranch on pizza and future plans for the business. Hereās a sneak peek:
What were your initial goals for Mission Pizza Napoletana?
āWhen I built this business, my business plan said that we would be the best restaurant in Winston-Salem and make the best pizza in North Carolina. I think thereās something powerful [about making a plan]ā¦if I say it out loud I have to live up to it.ā
