  • Athletics: Forsyth Tech announced it will offer two new sports programs beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year: women’s court volleyball and men’s basketball. The community college also plans to launch an esports program this fall.

  • Award: USA Today’s 10Best Reader’s Choice Awards named Biscuitville the “Best Fast Food Restaurant” for the second year in a row. The chain restaurant started in the Triad almost 60 years ago and has 65+ locations in North Carolina.

  • Business: Savage Roasters Coffee is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony tomorrow, July 23, at 245 N Main Street in Kernersville! The veteran and family-owned business started as a roastery in 2020 and specializes in ethically sourced, small-batch coffee.

  • University: Several UNSCA alumni have been nominated for Emmy Awards, including Tiffany Canfield (Only Murders in the Building), Alex Perrone (Ahsoka), and Atli Örvarsson (Silo). The Emmy Awards will air on ABC on Sunday, September 15.

The Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) named Greater Winston-Salem Inc. the 2024 Chamber of the Year!

  • What: The award recognizes chambers of commerce that have demonstrated organizational strength and impacted their communities.

  • Background: Greater Winston-Salem, Inc. was one of three national finalists in its category. The other finalists were the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce in Phoenix, Arizona, and the State Chamber of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City.


  • Why it matters: The award demonstrates the economic growth Greater Winston-Salem Inc. has fostered, which includes $803.7 million in capital investment and over 2,000 jobs generated since 2020.
