🎨 Art: Spots are still available for Sawtooth’s Taste of Art classes! These hands-on workshops are designed to be approachable and accessible for all skill levels, with options ranging from making leather bracelets to creating pottery and ceramic pieces.
🕯 Remembering: Wake Forest alumnus and former professional athlete Billy Ray “Bullet” Barnes passed away on December 31 at age 90. During his time at Wake Forest, Barnes became the first conference player to rush for 1,000 yards and helped the baseball team win the 1955 national championship. After college, he went on to play in the NFL.
🎄 Civic: Ready to say goodbye to your live Christmas tree? If you live in a single-family home, place your Christmas tree at the curb for pickup. If you live in an apartment (or don’t want to wait for pick-up services), the city has created a list of drop-off spots or yard waste facilities.
😢 Closing: Goodness Gracious is closing due to the sale of its building. The locally owned soul food restaurant is extending its hours before it closes in late January. We do have some good news, though: the restaurant’s owners are actively searching for a new location!
