š¦ Big Changes at ROAR
Changes at ROAR
Mayfair Hospitality Group, the company behind ROAR, Indigo Hotel, and Sir Winston Restaurant, is making major changes to ROAR and opening several new restaurants and venues this year.
Arcade and More: Fordās Food Hall in ROAR will now be a ābarcadeā with 45 playable games and a fully functioning bar. The rooms housing the kitchens have been renovated to serve as event spaces for birthday parties and corporate events. Opening Friday, January 26 at noon.
Ronnieās Country Store: Mayfair purchased the local grocery store that closed in 2021 and is reopening it inside ROAR on Friday, January 26 at noon.
Est! Est!! Est!!!: ROARās popular Italian restaurant is moving to a stand-alone location in Robinhood Plaza. The restaurant will open in the spring.
ROAR at Robinhood: Mayfair will also open another location of ROAR in Robinhood Plaza in The Golden Appleās old location. The venue will open in the spring.
Sports Bar: Mayfair plans to open a sports bar, Millerās on Trade, that will play sports games (with the sound on!) and have foosball, pool tables, shuffleboard, and darts. The bar will open in the spring.
Woolworth: Mayfair will restore Woolworth's Lunch Counter in the Former Woolworth Building and use it as an event venue. The building was where the 1960 Winston-Salem Sit-in happened.

Other News
Nomination: Bobby Boy Bakeshop has been recognized as a James Beard Award Semifinalist in the āOutstanding Bakeryā category. Bobby Boy is one of 20 semifinalists in this category. The finalists will be announced on April 3.
Sports: Kernersvilleās co-ed soccer league starts on March 10, with games played on Sundays from 3:30-9:30 PM. Registration for new teams ends on February 24.
Taxes: If you make less than $60,000 a year, you can have your taxes prepared for free through the Forsyth Free Tax program. Starting January 29, the service is available Mon-Thurs at select times.
Save the Date: The Black Business Summit takes place February 2 at The Enterprise Conference and Event Center. The summit is a gathering for entrepreneurs, professionals, and business enthusiasts with keynote speakers and workshops.
Arts: The Arts Council of WS|FC has named Howard Upchurch as the Interim President & CEO. The Board of Trustees has also formed a special committee to find a permanent CEO replacement.
Literacy: Shop at Bookmarks on January 29 for Support Literacy Day. Ten percent of in-store and online purchases will support Forest Park Elementaryās growing media center collection.
Park: Pilot Mountain State Park will close its access to the Yadkin River starting February 5 through the end of 2024. During the closure, it will be under construction for improvement and undergo a stream restoration project. Here are some other access points you can visit in the meantime.
