Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday, January 20. Did you know the civil rights leader visited Winston-Salem on two separate occasions?
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke at Wait Chapel on Wake Forest Universityās campus on October 11, 1962. He returned to Winston-Salem two years later to speak at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church on April 13, 1964.

š¹ DIY: Sophisticated Florals released its winter class schedule! The first classāAirplant and Crystal Terrariumsāwill be on Thursday, January 30. Sophisticated Florals is a full-service florist run by Winston-Salem native Stephanie Karadzhov.
š¾ Impact: The Winston-Salem Open donated $25,000 to support local middle school athletics and community tennis programs. The contribution came from a portion of proceeds from the 2024 Winston-Salem Open. Since COVID, the Winston-Salem Open has donated over $100,000.
š§„ Give Back: The Salvation Army of Greater Winston-Salem is partnering with A Cleaner World for its Give a Kid a Coat Campaign. The non-profit will distribute coats to kids and adults in need every Thursday through February 13. Want to get involved? Consider donating a coat or making a monetary donation!
šØ Art: Have you seen Kaleideumās new art pieces in Liberty Plaza? Known as the āWhispering Dishes,ā the dishes amplify sound waves so that a pair of people standing at opposite dishes can hear each other clearly despite the distance! The dishes were painted by local artist, Hieronymus.
