Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday, January 20. Did you know the civil rights leader visited Winston-Salem on two separate occasions?

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke at Wait Chapel on Wake Forest Universityā€™s campus on October 11, 1962. He returned to Winston-Salem two years later to speak at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church on April 13, 1964.

  • Stage Show - Camel City Playhouse presents ā€œBeyond Therapy,ā€ a comedy in which Prudence and Bruce look for love with the help of their therapists. Show runs through January 26.

  • Basketball - Cheer on the Rams as they take on Claflin at the C.E. Gaines Center. The game theme is Throwback Day, so wear your throwback WSSU gear and colors! Women at 2 PM, men at 4 PM.

  • Welding Class - This oneā€™s for your teen. Learn the basics of welding and its creative applications at Mixxer. Open to students grades 9th-12th. 9 AM

  • šŸŒ¹ DIY: Sophisticated Florals released its winter class schedule! The first classā€”Airplant and Crystal Terrariumsā€”will be on Thursday, January 30. Sophisticated Florals is a full-service florist run by Winston-Salem native Stephanie Karadzhov.

  • šŸŽ¾ Impact: The Winston-Salem Open donated $25,000 to support local middle school athletics and community tennis programs. The contribution came from a portion of proceeds from the 2024 Winston-Salem Open. Since COVID, the Winston-Salem Open has donated over $100,000.

  • šŸ§„ Give Back: The Salvation Army of Greater Winston-Salem is partnering with A Cleaner World for its Give a Kid a Coat Campaign.
