đź“ś History Meets Virtual Reality
Experience Black history firsthand through virtual reality at Union Station!
What: The Magnolia Shoebox Lunch N Learn & Traveling While Black Experience recreates how Black travelers in the Jim Crow era would eat when there wasn’t a safe place to stop.
How: Participants will wear VR headsets, immersing them in a cinematic experience where historic Black travelers discuss what it was like to travel during the Jim Crow era.
When: The experience is available at Union Station every Thursday through Saturday until March 31, 2025.
Why It Matters: This innovative use of technology allows The Historic Magnolia at Union Station to share Black history with various communities and people with different learning styles.
Bonus: On Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday, January 20), The Historic Magnolia at Union Station will offer its learning experience from 9 AM - 2 PM.

đź’Š Medical: The South Tower at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center is complete, following a $400 million investment that began in 2019. The five-story facility includes a surgical suite, expanded ICU services, and a team specializing in left ventricular assist devices. (WFDD)
🤝 Volunteer: Winston-Salem and Forsyth County’s Continuum of Care needs your help! On Wednesday, January 29, volunteers will survey our region to count the number of individuals experiencing homelessness. The survey will determine the services and resources our community needs to serve the homeless population. (Triad City Beat)
🍛 Opening: Saffron Indian Café opens tomorrow, January 14, in the Whitaker Square shopping center! The menu features authentic Indian flavors, with items such as lamb chops, paneer tikka masala, various naans, and seekh kebabs.
