  • What: Winston-Salem Social is a Facebook group where people under 45 plan meetups, swap recommendations, and connect with other locals. Since launching in May 2024, it has grown to over 1,300 members!

  • Who: Hannah Thorton started the group after moving to Winston-Salem. She’s no stranger to building online communities—back in 2020, she launched a similar group called Young Professionals of St. Louis, which now has over 15,000 members!

  • Events: Winston-Salem Social members meet for weekly trivia nights, holiday parties, hikes at nearby state parks, and more. Looking for more ways to make new friends? Check out our guide on where to make new friends!

Saturday, March 1

  • Nola Mardi Gras - Celebrate at Bar Nola with king cake, beads, live music, and more! Starts at 12 PM.

  • Art Show & Sale - Find one-of-a-kind art pieces at the Generations Center! Proceeds benefit Senior Services’ Meals-on-Wheels program. 10 AM - 2 PM

  • Night Moods - Join NCMA Winston-Salem for its nocturnal concert series, featuring music and visuals by experimental electronic band FLLZ. 7 PM

  • Vintage Market - Shop for vintage clothing and accessories from over 20 vendors at Incendiary Brewing (Winston-Salem location). 12-5 PM

  • Karaoke Night - Sing your favorite songs at Little Brother Kernersville’s first-ever karaoke night! 7-10 PM

  • DIY Workshop - Learn how to make a set of wind chimes out of copper and wood at Mixxer. 1 PM

  • Supper Pop-Up - Enjoy brunch from Native Root at West Salem Public House, featuring guest chef Mary Haglund of the former Mary’s Gourmet Diner. 10 AM - 1 PM

  • Wise Man Mardi Gras - Celebrate at Wise Man Brewing with food trucks, live music, king cake, cotton candy, and more. 8 AM - 12 AM

Sunday, March 2

  • Potluck Social - Join Camel City Supper Club at Joymongers Barrel Hall for an evening of meeting new people and sharing delicious potato-themed dishes! Bring your own dish to join the feast. 6:30 PM

  • Cocktail Class - Learn about and mix classic New Orleans cocktails at easytalk in celebration of Mardi Gras! 1 PM

  • Watch Party - Watch the Oscars at a/perture, featuring cinema-inspired food, a silent auction, prediction ballots, and prizes. 6:30 PM

  • Art Workshop - Take your kids to Reynolda House Museum to make a bird painting! 2 PM

Monday, March 3

  • Murder Mystery - Uncover clues and solve the mystery in “Once Upon a Murder” at Incendiary Brewing (Winston-Salem location). 7:30 PM

  • DIY Cards - Learn how to craft beautiful handmade cards at the Generations Center. Materials included. 1 PM

  • 👨‍💻 Education: Stay ahead of the AI curve! Wake Forest Executive Education is offering a one-day “Implementing AI at Your Organization” class on March 13. Learn to streamline operations, improve decision-making, and transform customer interactions. Register by March 3 to secure your spot!*

  • 🎉 Opening: Bricks & Minifigs is opening a new location in Kernersville at 960 S Main Street on Saturday, March 1. The store will offer new and used LEGO sets, minifigures, and bulk LEGO parts. Celebrate the grand opening with interactive activities, games, and giveaways!

  • 😿 Closing: Crooked Tail Cat Cafe will close its Winston-Salem location on Sunday, March 2, due to unexpected challenges. During its final week, the cafe will offer free cat lounge visits with the purchase of any beverage. Crooked Tail’s Greensboro location will remain open.

  • 🎤 On the Air: High Point native Tatum Scott has made it onto “The Voice”! You can watch her compete in the singing competition on NBC and catch her performing live at Earl’s on March 7.

  • 🌮 Food Trucks: Check out these two new food trucks in Winston-Salem! Lomo House brings authentic Peruvian flavors with dishes like lomo saltado and salchipapas, while South of Brooklyn serves up tasty tacos, including al pastor and campechanos.

  • ✏️ Input: WS/FCS needs your feedback as it updates its school boundary map. The school district has created three versions of the map that prioritize different values such as socioeconomic status diversity, home-to-school distance, and school feeder patterns. Boundaries won’t go into effect until the 2026-27 academic year at the earliest, and students will not be taken out of their current schools.

  • 🥞 Save the Date: Get ready for Winston-Salem’s tastiest tradition—the annual PanJam! Join the Twin City Kiwanis Club at the Benton Convention Center on Friday, March 7, for all-you-can-eat pancakes. All proceeds will support local youth-serving nonprofits.
