Rayson Winery and Vineyards

The winery formerly known as RayLen Winery & Vineyards is under new ownership. The plan to sell the property to JW and Kristen Ray, the owners of JOLO Winery and Vineyards in Pilot Mountain, was announced at the beginning of October and finalized last week.

The winery now operates under the name Rayson Winery and Vineyards and had its soft opening on December 2. Keep reading to find out what’s changing at the winery.

  • Renovations: Expect upgrades to the outdoor seating area and indoor tasting bar. Additionally, there will be new private tasting rooms, exclusive member lounges, and a state-of-the-art kitchen.

  • Restaurant: Rayson Winery is projected to open its full-service restaurant, Bistro Europa, in summer 2024. The executive chef is Daniel Zbeigen, who has previously won the 2020 Best Restaurant at a Winery on the East Coast award.

  • Temporary Menu: While Bistro Europa is built out, Rayson Winery will serve light bites catered from JOLO Winery’s End Posts restaurant including appetizers, charcuterie boards, salads, baguette sandwiches, and desserts.

  • Policies: Make note that Rayson Winery is a 21+ only venue and pets are not allowed on the property.

  • Historic Landmark: The Winston-Salem City Council recently designated the Coca-Cola bottling plant on Marshall Street as a historic landmark. The designation means the building’s owner, Jared Rogers, can apply for an annual tax deferral of up to 50%, according to WFDD.

  • Kaleideum: The downtown location of Kaleideum opens in February 2024. Guests can take a virtual tour of the new space, which has four floors of engaging exhibits.

  • Education: Did you know you could earn $43,000 while getting your master’s degree in education? Winston-Salem Teachers for Equity, Achievement, Community, & Humanity (WS-TEACH) is hosting an informational meeting on December 6 where you can learn more.

Star Lighting

The iconic 31-foot tall Moravian star on Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist’s Medical Center’s North Tower will be lit on December 5 at 5:45 PM.

The event is open to the public free of charge. The lighting ceremony will also be streamed live on the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist YouTube page.
