Saturday, December 28

  • Kwanzaa - Celebrate the third day of Kwanzaa with an intimate dinner and discussion at St. Stephen Baptist Church. Triad Cultural Arts will host Kwanzaa events daily through January 1 at various locations. 6 PM

Sunday, December 29

  • Cocktail Class - Join Easytalk at the bar to learn how to make New Year cocktails! 4 PM

Monday, December 30

  • Menorah Lighting - Celebrate Chanukah in Bailey Park with a giant menorah lighting, latkes, donuts, music, and more! 4:30 PM

  • ⭐️ Hanukkah: Today is the first day of Hanukkah! Wishing a joyful and peaceful Hanukkah to all who celebrate.

  • 🏈 Athletics: Bryce Baker, East Forsyth High School’s star quarterback, affirmed his commitment to play at UNC Chapel Hill. Baker is ranked as the fourth-best player in North Carolina for the Class of 2025. His decision came after the University appointed Bill Belichick as its head football coach. (FOX8 WGHP)

  • 🏆 Ranking: Niche ranked Winston-Salem No. 24 on its list of “Best Cities to Buy a House in America.” It was the only city in North Carolina listed among the top 25 spots. Niche reported Winston-Salem’s median home value as $187,400 compared to a national average of $281,900.

  • 👷‍♂️ Reopening: Pilot Mountain State Park’s Bean Shoals will reopen to the public in spring 2025. (WFDD) The access point to the Yadkin River closed in February 2024 for a restoration project that included three new bridges and a stream restoration. (NC Parks)

  • 🌱 Highlight: Sally Lee, a senior at Atkins High School, presented at the American Society for Gravitational and Space Research’s annual conference! The conference brings together scientists, engineers, educators, and students from around the world to share microgravity research and discuss space exploration. (NASA)
