Who: Clawson served as WFU’s head football coach for 11 years. Under his coaching, the Deacons achieved seven consecutive bowl appearances (2016-2022), an Atlantic Division title in 2021, and the program’s first top-10 national ranking in 2021.
Impact: WFU credits Clawson with revitalizing the football program and “overseeing the most successful stretch in Wake Forest football history.” Additionally, Clawson was known for creating a winning team culture and developing young men into leaders.
Why: Clawson said this was the right time for him to step away from his position as head coach. He said the changing college athletics landscape impacted his decision. (AP)
