New Year’s Eve

2024 is just around the corner! There are plenty of New Year’s Eve events in and around Winston-Salem to celebrate the coming of the new year.

Family-Friendly 

11 AM – 5 PM | $10 | Bring your kids to the Farewell Bash at Kaleideum! There will be crafts, dancing, a laser show, and a balloon drop at noon. This will be the last event at the museum’s current location.

12 AM  – 5 PM | $44 | Hit the new year running…literally. Run through the Tanglewood Festival of Lights at this 5k!

Ticketed/Cover Charge Events

8:30 PM – 1 AM | $50 for individuals, $95 for couples | Kick off the New Year with The Shaffner Inn’s ’80s-themed party, complete with appetizers, cigars, a live DJ, and a photo booth.

9 PM – 12 AM | $65 for designated driver tickets, $125 for standard tickets | Enjoy champagne and disco at Dram & Draught’s New Year’s celebration. The event features an open bar (applies to a prix fixe menu), food spread, and music.

9 PM – ~12 AM | $35 for individual tickets, $45 for reserved table tickets | Dance to music from the past 25 years played by DJs at the Millennium Center. Enjoy a complimentary breakfast after watching the Times Square Ball Drop!

9:30 PM – 2:30 AM | free admission | Join ALV for a night filled with music, dancing, and non-stop fun.

12 PM – 1 AM | free admission | Ring in 2024 with a dance party and DJSK at Wise Man Brewing!

9 PM – 1 AM | free admission | Toast to the New Year at Foothills Brewing’s “Brew” Year’s Eve Party, featuring live music from Ready Set Radio, trivia, and contests.

  • Leaders & Lunch - Did you know ~500 people are without a home in Forsyth County at any given time? Join Leadership Winston-Salem for a webinar addressing homelessness in Winston-Salem. 12 PM

Wednesday, December 20

  • Dirty Santa Gift Steal - Bring a wrapped or bagged gift to Medaloni Cellars to participate in a mischievous gift exchange game. 6:30 PM

  • DIY Ornament - Make your own clay ornament at Mixxer, from prepping the clay to taking home the finished product! 5:30 PM

Thursday, December 21

  • Winter Solstice Whiteout - Dress in your favorite white attire and celebrate the beginning of winter at Fiddlin’ Fish, featuring DJs, a dance floor, and giveaways. 6-10 PM

  • Musical Comedy - Theatre Alliance presents Christmas with the Crawfords. Note that this performance is rated R. Available through Saturday.

  • Open House - Come to Walnut + Broad for a kids’ holiday brunch, photos with Santa, wreath-making, and a live jazz band. 9 AM - 6 PM

  • Jazz Concert - The Camel City Jazz Orchestra performs its annual holiday concert at McChesney Scott Dunn Auditorium. 5:30 PM and 8 PM

Vienna Light Orchestra

🕯️ You don’t want to miss the Vienna Light Orchestra! Over 2,000+ flickering candles illuminate world-class musicians and vocalists as they perform all your favorite holiday songs! December 23 at R. J. Reynolds Auditorium, 4 and 7:30 PM*

Other News

  • Construction: The WS/FC Board of Education approved an additional $1.3 million for the R. J. Reynolds High School’s stadium project. Additional funds were needed in part because of an issue with the stormwater sewer system.

  • Help Needed: Welcome a furry friend into your home for the holidays: the Forsyth Humane Society is looking for short-term fosters for its cats and dogs from December 22-26.

  • Memorial: Samaritan Ministries is hosting a Homeless Persons’ Memorial Service on December 21 to honor those who lost their lives while experiencing homelessness this past year.

  • New Bakery: La Castellana, a Columbian bakery, has opened in Winston-Salem at 1229 W Clemmonsville Road. The bakery is open Monday to Sunday, 8 AM - 9 PM.

  • Save the Date: The Carolina Crossing Christmas Jam comes to The Ramkat on Saturday, December 23. The concert will feature special guests Doug Davis and DUCK.

  • Transportation: At the City Council meeting last Monday, an ordinance was proposed that would expand rickshaw services in Winston-Salem. According to a spokesperson for the Department of Transportation, there are already three companies interested in offering this service to the city.
