Local Legend: The 2024 Paralympic Gamesā opening ceremony is Wednesday, August 28. Samantha Heyison, a sophomore at Wake Forest, will compete in the discus and shot put for Team USA!
Opening: Ginger Bread Man Bakery is opening next to Ardmore Coffee in early October! Owner and baker Wade L said the bakery will serve vegan baked goods, including cupcakes, muffins, brownies, and cookies.
Save the Date: Celebrate Brazilian music, dance, and culture at Brazilian Fest each Saturday in September! The Fest will feature a live samba band, samba dance classes, Brazilian food & drinks, and more. The venue hosting the festival changes each Saturday.
Spending: The City of Winston-Salem will spend over $720,000 on tree removal at Winston Lake Golf Course. The project will remove close to 50 acres of trees and 98 individual trees from the course. The funds for this project are part of the $1.72 million city officials allocated for course improvements in 2022. (Triad City Beat)
Construction: Forsyth Tech has started expanding its Technology Transportation Center. The expansion will add 22,000 square feet, which will include a two-bay diesel repair area, a 10-bay automotive repair area, and teaching labs.
Relocating: Fiddle & Fig opens in its new location on 107 S Stratford Road on September 14! The storeās current space at 403 West End Boulevard will close on September 7 - stop by to get most items for 40% off.
