Going Green

Piedmont Federal Bank

Piedmont Federal Bank at the Piedmont Earth Day Fair

🌎 Piedmont Federal Bank wishes you a Happy Earth Day! Did you know they are taking steps to become the Triad's first Green Bank? That’s right! They’ve been around for over 120 years and have every intention of being here another 120.

Piedmont Federal Bank is currently undergoing a certification process with Piedmont Environmental Alliance. Through this partnership, Piedmont Federal Bank has been taking strides toward a greener future.

Some of these include:

  1. Creating products like their signature Zero Carbon Mortgage Program - Purchasing carbon offsets for the first year of an individual's mortgage.

  2. Transitioning to LED lighting - A process that will result in reducing their energy output and landfill space by 80% over incandescent and fluorescent lights.

  3. Going paperless - Beginning with eco-friendly e-statements and soon launching a sleek, fresh, and intuitive website, they are looking for creative ways to elevate the user experience while reducing the paper they print.

  4. Getting serious about recycling - Did you know that most things don't get recycled because of improper recycling practices? That is why Piedmont Federal has revamped its recycling program to ensure the right items are disposed of in the right places.

  5. Joining PEA to “Solarize the Triad” - Educating the public on solar tax credits and community purchasing opportunities to reduce costs and use less fossil fuels.

Bonus: Stay tuned for more green products from Piedmont Federal Bank to help you save the planet and money!*

  • What: The current clubhouse’s last day of operations will be Monday, May 13. The clubhouse will be demolished and reconstructed by Samet Corp. of Greensboro in a project expected to take 12-18 months.

  • Background: The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners approved the $15 million project in December of 2023. According to Triad Golf Magazine, the current clubhouse was constructed in 1973 and needs an update. The project comes a few years after the golf course renovation.

  • What to Expect: The new space will have enhanced simplicity and functionality with a warming kitchen for the snack bar, a meeting space for 150 people, and a wrap-around porch with a view of the golf course.

  • In the Meantime: While the new clubhouse is being constructed, operations will shift to a temporary clubhouse located at Shelter 4 in the park. This includes the pro shop, restrooms, carts, range balls, and refreshments.

  • When: The new clubhouse is projected to open in the latter half of 2025.
