Cinema: The RiverRun International Film Festival kicks off on Thursday, April 18! The festival will showcase 197 new films from established and emerging filmmakers from all across the world. Read our guide to learn more about the festival!
Parks: Bewels Lake Park is expected to open this summer. The park features an accessible fishing dock, picnic shelters, and a nature trail along the lake. Forsyth County is already applying for a state grant to fund the project’s second phase.
Volunteering: ALS United North Carolina needs volunteers to help with its 2024 Walk ALS Winston-Salem event on Saturday, April 27. Volunteer responsibilities would include set up, parking assistance, event management, and cheering on the walkers at the finish line.
Market: Forsyth Tech will host community farmers markets on its campus on various Wednesdays from April to October. The first is on Wednesday, April 24.
Awards: Nominations for Senior Services’ 7 Over Seventy Awards are now open. Award recipients will demonstrate community involvement and have contributed to the betterment of their community. Nominations are accepted through Friday, May 10.
Save the Date: The annual HIV/AIDS Awareness Walk takes place next Saturday, April 27, at Bailey Park. Health care, merchant, and food truck vendors will be onsite, and global activist Masonia Traylor will be the keynote speaker.
